When I first visited Paris, I was deeply impressed by The Thinker by Auguste Rodin. Standing in front of the sculpture, I was struck by its intensity—this solitary figure absorbed in thought, almost detached from the world around him. That encounter stayed with me and eventually inspired me to reinterpret the idea of “the thinker” in my own work.
I began to imagine a version of this figure that is not only immersed in thought, but also fully aware of their surroundings—connected to life, nature, and the subtle presence of everything that exists beyond the self. This shift became the foundation for this piece, Hummingbird and Flowers.
In this work, a female figure is surrounded by a vibrant ecosystem of life: a hummingbird, a toucan, an abundance of fruits and flowers, along with a dragonfly and a butterfly. Each element is symbolic, suggesting that we are never truly alone, but instead constantly in relation with other beings and forms of life around us. It is a reminder of interconnectedness, care, and attention to the living world.
Even the presence of an ice cream cone introduces a quieter, more intimate layer—representing the simple pleasure of being alive, the small moments of joy that ground us in the present.
Together, these elements create a contemporary meditation on awareness: a reimagined thinker who does not withdraw from the world, but instead engages with it fully—observing, sharing, and existing in harmony with the beauty that surrounds them.
